Much has changed since then, and we're glad to announce we're now in a position to invest in our own secure files solution, which is well underway and in development. This architecture allowed us to focus on building a frontend solution without requiring the heavy infrastructure required to build a scalable backend file-hosting architecture, which we weren't yet ready to undertake in 2018. This means that files are encrypted by us but stored in your Dropbox or Google Drive. After you confirm the PIN, you are free to browse your protected files. After file encoding the function will reload the created file, decrypt it, and check the consistence of the encoded sha256-hash value in order to get sure that the encoding works like expected. You just tap Safe folder, as you did when you’ve set it up.
Tap it and the file will be moved after you confirm the PIN code.Īccessing files that you’ve protected this way is just as easy. You will have a new Move to Safe folder option. Select the file or files you want and tap the three dots at the top right side of the screen. Moving a file to the folder couldn’t be easier.

If you need to, you can save the code in your LastPass Vault, for safekeeping. Otherwise, you will lose access to the files in the folder. With the risk of repeating myself, make sure you know what it is. You will next be asked to set up a four-digit PIN and then confirm it. Now, remember when, earlier in this article, I said that you should think long and hard about a PIN you can easily remember? This is the point where that will prove useful. You will see the Safe folder under Collections. Once you’ve opened that section, scroll down again. Start by opening the app and scrolling all the way down.
